Welcome Back: Field Trip Update!

Before Easter vacation, you received an informational letter about our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade California history field trip. Over the break, you should have contacted Mrs. Godsy to confirm your participation. You will be receiving our official school field trip permission slip that also needs to be signed and returned. Today, the $34 fee for our tour experience was due. If you have not yet sent in this $34, it is due tomorrow. We need to send in our portion of the money this week. We will be making an effort to fundraise the $30 for the bus money over the next few weeks. Please promote our Scentsy basket raffle (THANK YOU, THANK YOU MRS. BARAJAS!!) and our McDonalds dinner night.  I know this may seem like a lot of money, but if we really work hard and fundraise the bus money, the tour cost is reasonable… you can’t even go to the movies for $34 anymore!  I assure you, this field trip opportunity is an amazing learning experience that our children will never forget! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your continued support of our terrific third graders! Have a blessed week!

Field Trip Update!

Today a letter went out about our exciting Social Studies field trip! In the letter it was said that money for the field trip is due on Monday, April 16th, the first day back to school. Please note, I informed the third graders that it is actually the tour portion of the cost, $34, which is due. The reason for this is that our class has two fundraisers planned to raise money for our portion of the bus fee. Hopefully we will be able to reduce the bus cost, or even eliminate it entirely, for our third grade class. Thank you for your understanding and participation. Please confirm that your child will be attending by emailing Mrs. Godsy at mrsgodsy@gmail.com by Monday. Please email me if you have any questions! Thank you and have a blessed Easter!!!!

Chapter 19 Religion Notes!!

T= We Pray for Healing and Eternal Life

* Jesus cared for and healed the sick

- When Jesus cured the sick, he gave them a reason to hope in God’s love

- Mark 10:46-52

-Jesus helped and healed people in need

* The Church heals in Jesus’ name

- The Church carries on Jesus’ healing through the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

- Any Catholic who is seriously ill may receive Anointing of the Sick

-A priest uses the oil of the sick (holy oil blessed by a bishop)

- Family and parish members can join with the sick in celebrating this sacrament

* We believe in eternal life with God

-Jesus is always with us even when we face death

-As Christians, we do not see death as the end of life

- Eternal life= living forever in happiness with God in Heaven

- Some people choose to break their friendship with God completely. Hell is being separated from God forever.

-People who die in God’s friendship but are not ready for Heaven enter Purgatory to prepare for Heaven

* The Church celebrates eternal life with God

- A funeral Mass= a special Mass at which we thank God for the life of a person who has died

- Funeral Masses give us hope

Each class has one item that they have been asked to collect. Our third grade class has been asked to donate boxes of 6 count snack bars (ex. granola bars). Participation is not mandatory; however, it is a wonderful opportunity to practice becoming an ambassador of hope and caring for all of God's children. This Week's Homework! ITBS TESTING WEEK!!

This week we will  be doing ITBS testing. Testing will take place in the morning so it is very important that your child arrives on time. Anyone who arrives after testing has begun at 8:30 will have to wait in the office until the test is completed before being admitted to the classroom. ITBS testing cannot be made up for any reason. Please schedule any doctor or dentist appointments in the afternoon.
Please stress the importance of doing the very best possible work on these tests. You can help your child to do this by making sure he/she gets plenty of rest, eats a substantial, healthy breakfast, and brings a healthy snack to school. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Since we are testing this week, there will not be a regular homework packet. The following is the homework for the week:

1. Bring at least 5 sharpened yellow #2 pencils to school on Monday.
2. Bring an AR book in your level to read if you should finish a test early.
3. Read for 15 minutes every night.
4. Return signed newsletters and tests in homework folders on Thursday, October 6th.
5. Don’t forget to help the missions!

Thank you for your continued support of your child!
